Hello World!

I am Codemaster Mick, and this is the start of my journey with you all. I've been working with computers for around 30 years now, and have been programming for nearly 20 years of that. I have had my hands in all kinds of different things over the years, I watched the internet grow up and mature into what it is today, saw the console wars at their peak, and have been fiddling with different operating systems since I was just a kid.

I've never been an overly social creature, so I have essentially no presence on the web despite being a mostly web-driven coder. This is my attempt to change that and start creating a brand for myself, as well as providing knowledge where I can and helping others along the way in their own programming journeys.

The Coder

I've worked in an array of different languages and frameworks, used numerous game engines, designed bots for Discord and custom payment portals for Stripe. I can do frontend or backend work (but my CSS game is admittedly pretty weak, I usually have to look stuff up or outsource it to my partner-in-crime), I can build games from scratch, or even design neural networks. I often tinker around with new technologies just to see what they can do and get a feel for things, and enjoy watching frameworks grow up over the years.

The Gamer

Avid gamer, preferring PC gaming over anything else, but occasionally playing console games with the wife and kids. I'm a minmaxer (if you don't know what that means, I abuse numbers in games to become more powerful than anyone has any right to be) and a grinder, but I enjoy playing support roles as well as damage and tanks. I enjoy making my way through RPG games as much as I do sitting down with a shooter or an action game.

The Man

I've done a lot of different things in my life and have a pretty broad range of knowledge because of it. I spent a number of years as a general contractor, did tech support for an ISP, wrangled phones in a call center, made car parts, cleaned up after insurance claims, you name it. I injured myself pretty badly in my mid twenties and had to start focusing on desk work instead because I damaged my knees and back. Since then I have been comfortable behind the keyboard, smashing out code for any number of different purposes. In recent years I am not doing as much anymore due to further medical issues that are still being diagnosed, but I still try to hit the keys as often as my body will allow because I just can't stop coding!

I truly hope you enjoy yourself here and find something useful to help in your own programming journey, and I hope to see you back here again! Take care of yourselves and keep on creating!
